Over the past three decades - together with the local clergy, communities and with support from Orthodox churches abroad, missionary organizations and individuals the Orthodox Church in Korea has:

  • Established six Orthodox communities and eight chapels along with a Mission Center Facility.
  • Published approximately one hundred editions in the Korean language, with many of them being translations of the Liturgical Services.
  • Organized Sunday Schools, youth groups, philanthropic societies, bible study groups, and scholarships.

The church serves the spiritual needs of visiting sailors and also performs blessings, when invited, to many ships that are built in the Korean shipyards. Since 1992 the church has expanded its scope of pastoral care by providing for the spiritual needs of the Orthodox people from Russia. This includes marriages, baptisms and Divine Liturgies in Slavonic as well as in the English and Greek languages.

In 2000 (February 27-March 2 ) a grand 100 year Celebration of Orthodoxy in Korea was organized. His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, an Archbishop representing Patriarch Alexei of Moscow, and several other bishops, priests, and faithful came from various parts of the world in order to share in the festivities.
